Rye Cove High School is hosting a different fundraiser than usual that I thought some of those who love BBQ might be interested in even though they are not affiliated with Rye Cove on May 6th:

Come out and support RCHS athletics and enjoy bbq like you've never had before. Rye Cove's very own Jack McDavid will be here from Philly cooking up BBQ Jack McDavid style! $20.00 a plate gets you admission to the Baseball and Softball games vs Twin Springs and a BBQ meal. The Meal consists of BBQ Chicken, Pork, Beef and Ribs with sides of potato salad, cole slaw, baked beans, corn bread and drink. Pre event tickets on sale at Rye Cove High School or see any RCHS Coach or Booster Club Member.

**For those of you who don't know, Jack graduated from Rye Cove and has made quite the name for himself in the cooking world. He also hosted a cooking show on Food Network as it first started to rise in popularity with a pretty well known chef named Bobby Flay. Here is a bio from one of his restaurants webpage:

Seen some fliers up of this on the boards at MECC, probably going to go myself!

Just wanted to tell Stripes I'll be thinking of him the next few days while I'm in Memphis filling up on ribs and bbq.

Possibly. Have read some really bad reviews on it though, more than I'd like to see, they say the place has gone downhill the last few years and comparing it to the other prices...it's pricey, about 4-5 dollars more on average compared to the other top bbq places in Memphis. Seem to be a lot of consistent comments complaining about how overrated the place is, with REALLY poor service.

I've narrowed it down to Central, The BBQ Shop, Interstate and Paynes to load up on some pulled pork sandwiches this time around.

Just curious, but I remember everyone saying Ridgewood was some of the best bbq they've eaten. I had it a few weeks ago, and it was the same as everywhere else. The fries were actually horrible, but the beans and blue cheese dip were awesome.

Try the Neely's Restaurant. They make some really great BBQ

I have always heard the blue cheese dip was good but never had it. Beans and slaw have always been my sides.

it's pretty awesome.. you can eat crackers with it, or throw it on the sandwich..
love their beans and slaw.. but the sandwich was just a bbq sandwich to me. Nothing special.

Dixie Outpost in Blountville is good.
